Learning to Love Yourself Meditation
Today is a day you have set aside JUST for yourself. You plan to have “the works” at a nearby day spa, and you are really looking forward to this relaxing, self-nurturing time. As you prepare for your massage which is the first of your gifts to yourself, you slowly remove your clothing, and just stand momentarily, looking at your creamy, smooth skin in the mirror near you. You gently touch your hands to your arms, first one and then the other, and smile as you see your beautiful clear skin in the mirror. Next you slightly bend down and lightly touch your legs as well. It feels so good to see your perfect image, and you whisper to yourself “you are so pretty. I love you.” Soon the massage therapist comes back into the soothing, softly-colored room and begins to work her magic. She is usually silent, but today she briefly remarks about how lovely and clear your skin looks and feels. You thank her for her kind compliment, and then she returns to her work. After a little while, you turn over on your stomach and suddenly you are aware of the delicious aroma of an essential oil your therapist has put onto a cloth that is near your face. You breathe in a lengthy breath, enjoying the pleasant scent as long as you can. As your therapist places the warm stones on your back, you breathe in more deep breaths, thoroughly taking pleasure in the warmth and healing energy of the stones. After the massage, you go out into a small room that has the most charming paintings on the walls. Before you sit down, you take a close look at the paintings and delight in their magical colors of aqua and lavender and blue. Then you sit down, and as you do, you see that someone has placed a perfectly-sliced apple on a pretty glass plate for you. Beside the plate is a glass of sparkling water with a sprig of mint floating in it. As you place your feet in the bubbling foot bath, you take a bite of the apple, then sip the cool water, slowly inhaling the scent of the mint. Ah, this is so refreshing! After you treat your feet to the foot bath, it is time to go take a shower. There are wonderful lotions and gels to choose from, and you make your choices, then turn on the water and let the spray fall onto your skin. When you are finished showering, you dry yourself off with a large, velvety towel and then you put on your silky, new bathing suit. Because, today, when you leave this relaxing place, you are going to the beach! And when you arrive there, you will walk proudly at the edge of the surf, knowing that your skin is glowing and your heart is joyful. Life is good!
