Going Barefoot? There is a program called "The Barefoot Program" at some different locations throughout the United States that helps to provide shoes for needy people around the globe. Millions of people, including over 300 million children, have never in their lives owned a pair of shoes. Donating your gently used, wearable shoes provides footwear for the needy and keeps discarded shoes out of bulging landfills. Although this is not required, placing a one dollar bill inside the donated shoes will cover the cost of shipping the shoes around the world. Some participating stores also contribute vouchers to donors which offers $5.00 toward the purchase of any new shoes. You can do a search for "The Barefoot Program" on the internet to find a place in your area where you can take the shoes you wish to donate. Isn't this a great way to de-clutter your closet and help those less fortunate at the same time?
