Farmers' Markets

FARMERS' MARKETS: A group of farmers who come together to a specific location on a regular schedule to sell their food and farm products to the public. Farmers Markets play a valuable role in local communities by providing customers with a potpourri of fresh and organic produce, specialty foods, baked goods, plants and flowers (including aquatic plants, bromeliads and luscious orchids in warm climates), and oftentimes finely crafted wares as well. Farmers Markets have become a gathering place for friendship and fun and families. Many Farmers Markets also include live entertainment, helping to enhance an already outstanding weekend experience. Farmers Market shoppers enjoy the freshness and taste of foods grown locally. Farmers Market shoppers have fun. And…..Farmers Market shoppers are helping to support local economies. In turn, the vendors are able to capture more of the value of their products in this direct selling venue. Farmers Markets have evolved over the last several years to include cheeses, sauces, specialty tea blends and roasted coffees, pasta, herbs and spices, gourmet condiments and fresh seafood. They also often include the work of skilled artisans who present hand-knit scarves, stained glass, jewelry, pottery, wearable art, candles and soaps, and woodworking. Nearby restaurants frequently join in the festivities by offering healthy creations to their patrons. Farmers Markets bring farmers, artisans, families and friends together. You are likely to meet your neighbors and their dogs; you can have your morning coffee (organic, of course); you can buy cheeses and seafood for your dinner, and you can chow down on local restaurant specialties. Feed your body and feed your soul. Soak up some fresh air. Get up early on a weekend morning and take in a Farmers Market. It’s a great experience!
