A Peaceful Meditation
You have decided to embark on an inward journey. You are lying on a deliciously comfortable lounge chair, with your feet and legs stretched all the way out. Your head is slightly back on a large pillow that supports you in every way. You are contentedly warm, and surrounded by your loving pets. Your breathing is relaxing to you as you take in healthy, deep breaths and then slowly blow them out, feeling ever so happy as you do. As your calm breathing allows you to completely relax, you settle even further into your velvety blue lounge chair and begin to recall all those moments when you were most at peace. There’s the day you were walking in the woods and stopped to pick up the pine-scented needles and held them up to your nose; there’s the day you sat down on the beach and watched the beautiful turquoise water roll in and out, softly lapping up against your toes; there’s the day you walked down the stone steps into a magical forest that was so green and so refreshing, and you felt like you could hear the angels calling your name; and then there’s the day that you encountered your loving friends sitting around a campfire, holding hands and sipping energizing chai tea, one of your favorite drinks; and finally there is the day when you are just languishing in a scented bubble bath, watching the candles you have lighted dance away in the light, warm breeze that is wafting through the colorful stained glass window near your tub. Recalling these events makes your heart swell with joy. You cannot remember when you have felt so peaceful and so nurtured and you begin to give thanks. Your gratitude envelops you and you are amazed at the extraordinary feeling of peace you are experiencing. You savor this time and then slowly, you sit up, stretching your arms high into the air. Then you begin to stand. First you put one leg down onto the soft carpet, then the other. Then you stand up fully, up on your tiptoes, and back down again. Oh, it feels so good to gently stretch your body. You reach down and tenderly pat each of your dogs to let them know they, too, are loved. This day and this time seems magnificent to you, and you feel joyful and so serene. You are at peace.
