A Nice Little Meditation Experience
Today you have decided to take a bike ride. You often ride around your neighborhood when you ride your bike, but today you are going to try a new adventure. It’s a sunlit day, and there is a gentle breeze ever so slightly blowing your hair. It’s one of those days when you smile all over because it is so beautiful. Popping a tasty, fresh mint into your mouth, you ride your bike down the road, and veer off onto a little path. Along the side of the path are the loveliest vines with big sweet-smelling, blue flowers intertwined in them, and the stones on the path sparkle with the colors of the rainbow. First there’s red. Then there’s orange, followed by yellow, green, blue, indigo and finally violet. The path leads to a garden with a large pond in the middle of it. You get off your bike, laying it down on its side in the soft green grass. There is a zen garden off to the right of the pond and the garden has some large rocks, big enough to sit on. And there is a rake propped up on one of the rocks. You seat yourself on the largest rock, and begin to identify what you see in the garden. In peaceful contemplation, and your flexible mind’s eye, you see islands rising from the sea. Next you see a cloud forest and you reach out and touch the clouds. Finally you see a lake, and also what seems like you imagine heaven itself to be. You take the rake and lightly pull it toward you, then swirl it around in a smooth figure 8 pattern. Pleased with the pattern, you choose to place the rake back onto the rock, then slowly you move on to walk toward the pond. There are some small, flat stones near you on the ground, so you pick up a couple of them, tossing them one at a time into the pond. It is so relaxing to watch the concentric circles form, first quite small ones, which become larger and larger, until finally they dissipate and the water is smooth again. Walking back toward your bike, you cross over a wonderful little bridge, and you stand for a moment, looking at your reflection in the water. You smile at yourself, then pick up the bike and begin to ride once again. As you ride away from this magical garden, you chuckle to yourself as you hear a bullfrog calling out to his mate. You continue to smile, and suddenly you realize that the Universe is smiling back at you. The Universe really does love you.

Contributor's Note
In addition to being an artist, I am a freelance writer and find that diversity in my writing assignments as well as doing the research for the articles is a rewarding way to spend my time. Not only does it build upon my own knowledge base, it also gives me a newer awareness or broader viewpoint about topics which I may have shunned, therefore providing me with an acceptance or tolerance of all people and their ideas.
